MPIN: Full Form, Meaning, and How to Generate It

How to generate MPIN?

  1. Net banking

    • Log in to your bank’s net banking website or app
    • Go to ‘Mobile Banking’ and click ‘Setup MPIN’
    • Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number
    • Create a 4 to 6-digit MPIN and confirm it
    • You will receive a confirmation message after setting up your MPIN
  2. UPI apps

    • Open any UPI app on your phone
    • Log in using your registered mobile number and bank details
    • Select your bank account from the list
    • Tap on ‘Create/Reset UPI PIN’ or ‘Set mPIN’
    • Enter the OTP sent to your mobile
    • Follow the steps on the screen (varies from bank to bank)
    • Enter your new mPIN to confirm it
  3. ATM

    • Insert your ATM card and enter your PIN to continue
    • Choose the option ‘Forgot mPIN / Login Password’
    • Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number
    • Create a new mPIN and confirm it
    • You will get an SMS once the new mPIN is set successfully
  4. USSD code

    • Dial *99# from your registered phone number
    • Choose “Generate mPIN” from the menu
    • Enter the last 6 digits of your bank card and expiry date
    • Create a new mPIN, confirm it, and submit
  5. Bank branch visit

    • Visit your bank branch and fill out the mPIN request form
    • Submit it to the bank staff
    • You will receive instructions to set your mPIN

How to change MPIN?

  • Open your mobile banking app
  • Log in using your current MPIN or account credentials
  • Go to Settings or More in the app
  • Select ‘Change/Modify MPIN’
  • Enter your current MPIN and the new MPIN you want
  • Confirm the new MPIN
  • Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number
  • Your MPIN will be updated once the OTP is verified
